Hi - I'll be providing a lightning talk on:

Is your organisation ready for the shiny new toy?

I highlight 5 factors that influence an organisation's ability to adopt emerging communication channels.

Perhaps we could then do a facilitated session where we collectively create a change readiness audit tool for a collaborative culture? If there's interest let me know...
Really looking forward to this, Jennifer. On the second session you mention, absolutely! Make sure you suggest it as we start up the unconference.
Hi All -- Measurement is such a hot (and fraught) topic, we just have to have a discussion about what gets measured, why, and how. We'll cover traditional PR measurement, Internal communications measurement and social media measurement. I don't plan to pontificate -- rather, I want to facilitate discussion on these topics. I will give everyone a quick view of some of my own research in these areas (2 of my 3 papers are published already, and the third will be soon! The last one, on social media, is the first of three.)

So glad to be a part of the UN!

BTW - if you have burning questions - send them beforehand to me here.
Cheers! See you all in T-Dot.
I'll be sparking up a lightning talk on integrating social media into your website - how to update Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and your blog with one click, or use 3rd party tools to monitor all your networks, schedule updates and stay on top of things. There's a ton of options and choices out there, but thinking through what you need to accomplish and tracking toward real, measurable results is the only way to make sure you're not wasting your time. The more you can do with less input or from fewer places the better.

About me: I have 17 years experience in media relations, internal communications and marketing, and I'm the president of BizzyWeb, a company specializing in creating web sites for small businesses that use social media strategies and tactics to make a big impact on a limited budget. We help our clients “Generate Buzz Without Getting Stung!"

You can find me at my website (linked in my name above), or via http://facebook.com/BizzyWeb or http://twitter.com/dave1meyer. Looking forward to seeing you in Toronto!
And this is my photo - I suppose I should have registered before I posted the above :-)
One topic I want to delve into with UNconference participants is Innovation.
I want to hear what fabulous projects, initiatives, practices are happening around the world that foster innovation and develop creativity in organizations large and small. And, with what results? How is innovation being used to compete, develop, retain, reward, communicate? I may even have an example or two of my own to discuss.
I'd like to do mine on "It's Not About Web Toys"--why Social Communication strategy can avoid Social Media train wrecks.
I'd be happy to chat for 25 minutes on "Leveraging social media for sales prospecting". I could also do a lighting talk on using LinkedIn OR Twitter. Just have to be gone by 3:50 or I'll turn into a pumpkin (or miss a reception).
Cyrus - that's great - happy to have you lead a session - just make sure you get it on the "leader board" at the beginning of the session - I think we've confirmed our lightening talk speakers, but thanks for that offer too - looking forward to your participation.
One topic I've been mulling around is the magical power of the original social media tool: the discussion forum. We've successfully put internal discussion forums to work for a variety of communications efforts, and time and again I'm impressed with the outcome. From web jams to community support forums, I've found if you create a destination for an in-demand topic and make sure people know about it, flowers bloom.
Jeremy: Our community managers and moderators at LiveWorld (my employer) still do PLENTY of work for brands and their customers on discussion forums. They sometimes feel very old-fashioned in the age of so many shiny new objects, but they really can work well. This would be a great topic to present.
Mike: We certainly encourage you to propose that topic when we kick things off at the unconference. Sounds like a great one!
