Jeremy: Assuming you don't bank with some completely obscure institution, just withdraw cash on your ATM card from the airport, in town, whenever you need it, etc.. That's what I do. You'll pay a transaction fee and such, but probably the same as going through AMEX.  And yes, you can pay for things (like your hotel, meals, etc.) via credit card, too. Those charges will go through and be converted to the US$ amount. No sweat.
